Ophelia was lost in her thoughts until a certain person broke her out of them. Ophelia knew it was a boy with red hair and brown eyes. She quickly recognized him as Oliver, her best friend. A blonde girl with blue eyes appeared holding three cups of tea. Ophelia recognized her as Emily, her best friend since she was six. Emily handed each cup to Oliver and Ophelia.
“What have I missed?” Emily asked.
“Not much,” Oliver answered.
Suddenly, Ophelia’s mom emerged in the doorway.
“Can I talk to you three?” She asked.
Ophelia, Emily, and Oliver shared a glance before answering.
“Sure,” they said.
They followed Ophelia’s mom to the kitchen where she sat down on the stool at the counter.
“Go on, sit down,” she said as she gestured to the stools in front of them.
Ophelia, Emily, and Oliver quickly sat down on the stools.
“I have decided that Ophelia will be going to school,” Ophelia’s mom started. “And, I want you, Emily, and Oliver, to take care of her,” she continued.
Emily and Oliver looked at Ophelia only to see that she looked as if she saw a ghost. Once they had a little chat with Ophelia’s mom, Emily and Oliver started to teach Ophelia all the basics even when Ophelia told them she knew the basics. Ophelia’s friends helped her understand things she didn’t know and how to act at school. For one week, Ophelia was taught how to be polite, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. Every day after Emily and Oliver have finished school, they would always update Ophelia about what they were learning and sometimes let her do their homework so she could get better at it.
Days passed by until it was time for Ophelia to go to school. Ophelia dressed perfectly and went to say goodbye to her mom before going to school with Emily and Oliver. Ophelia’s first day was exactly like what she expected. It was her first day yet she already made an impression on the teachers! It was pretty much the same every day. Well, until a rumor about Ophelia appeared. But of course, Ophelia doesn’t know a thing about it. Weeks passed and more people knew
about the rumor. Soon, everyone turned their backs on Ophelia. Still, Ophelia didn’t know about it.
Soon, Oliver had heard about the rumor and spent weeks trying to find who spread the rumor. Emily soon found out about the rumor too and has been helping Oliver to find who would spread rumors about Ophelia. Ophelia soon found out about the rumor and that encouraged her to never go to school again. Shortly after that, Ophelia got a high fever because she was stressed out so much. She had to stay home with her mom and her siblings.
Of course, this made Emily and Oliver want to find the rumor spreader more. After more than 2 weeks, Ophelia got better. Emily and Oliver told Ophelia that they unfortunately had made no progress since she got sick. The next day Ophelia woke up and went to school and it wasn’t until long before she heard a new rumor. This time, it wasn’t just about her, but her friends too! There has been a rumor saying that Ophelia’s friends have been friends with her just so they would look cool and kind being friends with a girl who’s not so rich. Ophelia was mad that anyone would think that. But when she ran into Emily and Oliver, she overheard Emily say something to her friends.
